15 Days Tanzania & Kenya Bigfive Safari

15 Days Tanzania & Kenya Bigfive Safari

Africa – You can see a sunset and believe you have witnessed the Hand of God. You watch the slope lope of a lioness and forget to breathe. You marvel at the tripod of a giraffe bent to water. In Africa, there are iridescent blues on the wings of birds that you do not see anywhere else in nature. In Africa, in the midday heart, you can see blisters in the atmosphere. When you are in Africa, you feel primordial, rocked in the cradle of the world.

Day By Day Itnerary

It’s really beautiful. It feels like God visits everywhere else but lives in Africa.

Day 1: Arusha – Tarangire National Park

In the morning you will start your safari with a drive to the Tarangire National Park. The park, roughly the size of Luxemburg, covers an area of approximately 2,600 km².

The landscape of savannah, seasonal swamps and giant baobab trees is home to Masai giraffes, buffaloes, hartebeest, eland, fringe-eared oryx, the weird-looking long-necked gerenuk and over 550 species of birds. But it is the elephants, Tarangire is famous for and the park, where herds of up to 300 animals roam, is probably one of the best places in East Africa to see them and to get close to these giant creatures. After an extensive game drive, you will drive to Manyara's Secret overnight

Day 2: Tarangire National Park – Lake Manyara National Park

After breakfast you will drive to the smaller Lake Manyara National Park. The park is known for its over 400 bird species, primate-filled forests and grassy plains. A large area of the park is covered by the alkaline Lake Manyara, which is home to colonies of flamingos and other water birds. Apart from elephants you might also spot giraffes, hippos, wildebeests, impalas and teeming groups of noisy monkeys and baboons in the forests near the lake.

In the afternoon, after an extensive game drive, you will travel to the small multi-cultural village of Mto wa Mbu, on the outskirts of Lake Manyara National Park. You will camp at a camp where you can relax at the pool or bar.

Day 3: Lake Manyara Area –Ngorongoro Crater – Serengeti National Park

Today you will continue to the lush highlands where crops such as wheat, corn and coffee are grown. Rise and shine! After breakfast at daybreak you drive down into the crater.

Inside the world’s largest caldera, you will see a diversity of wildlife ranging from black rhinos, Grant’s and Thomson’s gazelles, lions and leopards to elephants and mountain reedbucks in the forests on the slopes. You might also see buffaloes, spotted hyenas, rare wild dogs and some of the more than 500 bird species of the area. After an intensive game drive and a picnic lunch, you will leave the caldera in the afternoon and travel to the Serengeti National Park. Serengeti means “endless plains” in the language of the Maasai and you will see the grassland savannah stretching to the horizon. Bizarre rock formations called kopjes dot the grassy landscape where predators are often seen. Depending on the season you will witness the migration of thousands of animals for which this park is famous for. You will arrive at your lodge in the Seronera Valley in the central Serengeti in the late afternoon. After supper you will fall asleep to the sounds of the African bush.

Day 4 – 8: Serengeti National Park

The whole day will be spent on a game drive in the Serengeti. The areas that you visit will depend upon where the migrating herds are (predators usually follow closely behind the trekking animals).

The whole day will be spent on a game drive in the Serengeti. The areas that you visit will depend upon where the migrating herds are (predators usually follow closely behind the trekking animals). During the short rainy season in November and December the herds move from the hills in the north to the plains in the south. During the longer rainy season from April to June they return up north. The yearly trek is determined by the rainfalls and the location of the herds might vary from year to year but your guide will know where to find the animals and where to see them best. Apart from wildebeests and zebras you might also spot predators such as lions, leopards and cheetahs.

Day9: Serengeti National Park – Isebania Border

After breakfast you join another game drive in the Serengeti National Park. This morning you might spot animals you haven’t seen yet.

The Serengeti is also home to the Big Five – lion, elephant, buffalo, rhino and leopard – and today you might be able to see all the members of this group. After early morning game drive, you will drive in direction of the Isebania border to masai mara. As soon as you have reached at the border you will be met by our Kenya safari guide for your transfer to Masai Mara

Day10: Discover Masai Mara

The search for great predators and perhaps even cubs continues today during extensive game runs. On the plains are enormous herds of grazing animals, plus the elusive cheetah and leopard hiding amidst acacia boughs.

During your stay, you will also have an optional opportunity to visit a village of the Masai people to witness the singing and dancing that are part of their daily life and sacred rituals. A glimpse into their homes and social structure is a poignant experience.

Day11: Explore the Masai Mara Game Reserve

You are in Africa of your dreams, the Masai Mara in Kenya.

You will spend another exciting day here, giving you the luxury of time to appreciate the region’s rich wildlife by game drive or even an optional hot air balloon. Zebra, wildebeest, topi, and hippos are common, as are leopards, lions, and cheetahs.

Day12: Masai Mara - Lake Naivasha (Great Rift Valley)

Your destination is Lake Naivasha Country Club. You will arrive in time for lunch at the lodge by the lake, and in the early afternoon, you will take an optional boat ride.

Alternatively, a nature walk at Crescent Island is an excellent way to see wild animals while on Foot. The Island is a private game sanctuary, which is home to zebra, wildebeest, gazelle, Vervet monkeys, hares, genet cats, waterbuck, and giraffe. Or, you may wish to lounge by the pool admiring the view of zebras, giraffes, and waterbuck just outside the fence.

Day13: Lake Naivasha - Amboseli National Park

This morning, you will depart by road through the scenic Athi Plains and into the bush country of Amboseli National Park, home to the legendary Masai tribesmen and famous for huge herds of elephant.

Lunch will be taken en-route. Upon arrival, you will conduct a game drive before arriving to the lodge or camp.In addition to elephant, antelope, zebra, wildebeest, buffalo, and the rare and elusive leopard, nearly every vista within the Park is framed by the majestic Mount Kilimanjaro in the distance.

Day14: Explore Amboseli

Rising early for good views of Mount Kilimanjaro before clouds build up over the summit, you will set off for another stimulating game drive. Amboseli is an excellent place to view a multitude of wildlife, including everything from Wildebeest to giraffes to baboons.

Optional visit to a Masai village is planned after breakfast. Masai warriors are famously known as the proud nomadic tribe whose legendary prowess in battle and single-handed acts of bravery in fights with the wild animals are known across the world. A visit reveals the singing and dancing that are part of their daily life and sacred rituals. A glimpse into their homes and social structure is a poignant experience. Midday finds you at the lodge for lunch and afternoon rest, followed by another extensive "breezy" game drive.

Day15: Amboseli National Park - Nairobi

After breakfast in the morning, you will depart by road to Nairobi.

This is the end of your 15days Tanzania & Kenya Safari.
